Amelia (Millie) Myers was born in Youngstown, Ohio to John and Catherine Yaslik on January 6, 1923. She was the second youngest of seven brothers and sisters. She graduated from Youngstown South High School. After high school, she was employed by Commercial Shearing and Stamping Company as an administrative assistant. It was there where she met her future husband, Lawrence Myers (Carroll). They were married on September 17, 1949, at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church.
They had two sons, Lawrence C. Myers III (Larry) and Robert B. Myers (Bob) before Carroll was transferred to Salt Lake City, Utah. Millie enjoyed, golf, skiing and swimming. In 1957, Millie gave birth to a daughter, Kathryn Marie (Kitty). In 1958 Carroll was transferred back to Youngstown. Millie enjoyed being reunited with her family.
Millie became an avid golfer, in addition to playing golf with Carroll, she played in many ladies’ golf leagues. When her children were old enough for school, Millie rejoined the workforce. She worked for Sears in the drapery department eventually becoming a certified interior decorator for Sears. She worked in that capacity until she retired.
Millie lost Carroll to cancer in 1983. After, she spent a lot of time visiting her children and grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren. She travelled the world visiting Kitty and her husband Jeff Lawrence. Jeff retired from the Air Force in Tampa where Kit and Jeff settled down. Millie moved from Youngstown to Tampa to be close to Kit. They were best buddies and had a standing Friday lunch date.
Unfortunately, Kit lost her battle to cancer several years later. Millie stayed in Tampa where she was looked after by Jeff and Larry and Bob and their families. Millie moved to the Fernandina Beach Nursing and Rehab facility in November 2020 near where Bob lives. She was a resident there until her death. Millie was loved by many of her friends and her children’s friends, anyone knew her loved her. She was a fixture at the St. Anne’s and Holy Trinity Ukrainian Churches. She cleaned the church, made pirogis, sold 50/50 tickets at bingo and worked festivals. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by: Larry and Carol (Parisi), grandchildren Michael (Kelsey) Myers and Michelle Wall (Jason), and five great grandchildren Ann Stewart (Wall), Ruby (Wall), Jonathan (Myers), David (Myers), and Katherine (Myers); Bob and Roselyn (Richley) grandchildren Briana Kenavey (Jeff) and Brendan Myers (Chelsea), great grandchildren Izabella (Kenavey) and Amelia (Kenavey).
There will be a family service for Millie at a later date.
